Showcase Flower Room - Harvest Complete - awaiting a thorough clean and reload

Showcase Flower Room

As the room was about to enter Week 11 (days 70-77), the harvest was wrapping up. The majority of the room was taken between days 67-71. The few strains that were taken earlier are still drying but will so be put into buckets to start the curing process.

Every strain that was in the room will be available for purchase as flower while four strains were saved to make into concentrates. The aromas range from fruity to gas to funk. The colors vary from classic cannabis green to dark purple with several strains showing a mix of both colors. With the variety of strains that were grown in this room everyone should be able to find something they like.

Now that the room is empty the next step is to clean and sterilize it before it is reloaded with the next round of plants. It is extremely important to do a thorough job of cleaning the room as a clean room is required for clean, consistent harvest. A good rule to remember when cleaning is ACBD, Always Clean Before Disinfecting. The room will be cleaned, disinfected, and replanted by next week's blog.

F0A Flower Room

The plants entered Week 5 of flowering (days 28-35). All growth in the plant is now focused strictly on the flowers. The flowers are starting to swell and resin production is noticeable in all strains. The individuality of each strain is now really beginning to become apparent. The aromas in the room are still subtle but increasing everyday. There should be some fun and exciting strains in this room.

The maintenance in the room continues to primarily be under canopy pruning. The majority of the pruning was the removal of fan leaves but there was still some flower that needed to be removed. The flowers that were pruned were either in overcrowded sections or were so behind in growth and development that it is best to remove them and focus that energy on the remaining flowers on the plant.

The room is approximately 82 degrees during the day and the humidity was lowered this week from 65%-60%.  Lights and CO2 are still at their highest set points. The plants are watered heavily at this stage with elevated levels of phosphorus and potassium in the nutrient solution. Once a week the plants are fed mostly water to help prevent the over accumulation of nutrients in the pot. Pro tip of the week is to add organic inputs to your pot and root zone. The difference is noticeable and your plants will thank you.

The moms are growing well and are ready to be pruned again. The moms that needed to be cloned last weren’t and now they really need to be cloned as soon as possible. The nutrient solution was lowered slightly this week to hopefully keep them healthy but slow down their growth slightly.

Every plant for the showcase room has been transplanted into its first pot. The plants are growing well and overall look healthy. The light intensity was lowered this week as a few strains seemed to be getting burned from too much light. The plants have responded nicely to the light change and seem to be less yellow and a healthier shade of green. The 1 gallon pots for their next transplant will be prepared in the next few days and the plants will be transplanted and moved into the showcase room next week.

There are always new and exciting things going on at Small Batch so if you have any questions please reach out to us. Thanks for reading this week’s blog.
