Showcase Flower Room - Slow progress on cleaning but reload will happen quickly

Every Fan is disassembled, cleaned and sanitized. We do this to every square inch of the room. Ceiling, walls, floors, fixtures, fans , tables, dehumidifiers, air conditioners, lights and even the power cords are cleaned and sanitized to assure the next run has the best chance at success. It is a painstakingly long procedure and takes a crew multiple days to accomplish. 100% essential.

Showcase Flower Room

In the poem “To a Mouse,” by Robert Burns there is a line that translates to “The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry” and that was certainly true for the Showcase room this week. The room has not finished being cleaned and sanitized so the plants were not brought into the room this week. Progress is being made and what seemed a monumental task when started now feels manageable and will be completed soon. The plants for the room are growing and healthy (one strain is being finicky) and most likely will be quickly, if not directly, into flower once placed into the room.

F0A Flower Room

The plants entered Week 6 of flowering (days 35-42). They are focusing the majority of their energy on flower development. The flowers are continuing to swell while becoming denser, more resinous, and aromatic. Trichome development is becoming noticeable as they mature. At this point the individuality of each strain is clearly apparent.

There was a light fan leaf pruning this week. There will be two more heavier prunings before the plants are harvested as light penetration and air circulation are so important in flower. Flowers are also being arranged and supported in the trellis as needed.

The big maintenance task in the room this week was cleaning the reservoirs. The success of our irrigation system relies on consistent waterings and to achieve this the lines and emitters need to be working properly. Organics are great and highly recommended but come with the added responsibility of more cleaning as they tend to clog lines. Weekly maintenance on the lines and reservoir is ideal but if that can’t be achieved biweekly maintenance must be done. This week the reservoir was scrubbed and emptied to remove particle and sediment accumulation while next week the lines and emitters will be flushed.

The seedlings are all transplanted and awaiting their final transplant and relocation to the showcase Flower Room.

Mom and Veg Room

The out of control mother plants were tamed this week and pruned aggressively. Now we have semi out of control moms left which will be worked on soon.

Over 275 clones were taken from eight strains for the next round of flower. We believe in taking way more clones than needed for two reasons. First, this way only the best clones are chosen to work with and this leads to the best results in the grow room. Second, if the plants are difficult to clone or a mistake happens there should still be enough material to achieve the desired number of plants

The plants for the Showcase Flower Room are doing well and starting to get big. They are ready to be transplanted and pruned. The coco pots are being expanded and we are excited to transplant these strains. The Micro Batch strains also look great and should soon start to show if they will be male or female plants. We are so excited for all these new, cool, and unique strains.

Thanks for reading this week's blog. We do things differently here at Small Batch and hope you appreciate our uniqueness as much as we enjoy sharing our uniqueness with you. Have a Happy Thanksgiving and stay safe out there.
