Showcase Flower Room - The plants are rapidly growing as they enter week 2.

Showcase Flower Room

The plants entered Week 2 of flowering (days 7-14).  The plants grew a lot this week both vertically and horizontally. It is rapid growth as some days there seems to be a notable difference in height from morning to evening. Not only are the plants growing this vigorously vegetatively, this week also saw the first emergence of flowers on a majority of the strains.

With the plants using this much energy it is important to stay on top of irrigation, lighting, and carbon dioxide usage in the plants. Light intensity is still being increased approximately 5% each day and irrigation length is being increased by 1 minute every other day. The carbon dioxide level was raised to 1200 parts per million which is roughly 3 times atmospheric CO2. These increases will continue until the plants settle down around week 4 to focus on flowering.

The plants were pruned heavily this week. The objective was removing lower branches and large fan leaves that were no longer in the light. It was surprising how much the undergrowth and lateral branches grew since they were pruned last week. After the pruning the airflow in the room was noticeably better and the plants seemed happier which is always a great sign.

Sometimes being a grower involves more than just focusing on plants. There can be aspects of carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical work involved. This week we got to play electrician while dealing with a malfunctioning light fixture in the Showcase Room. We were able to fix the problem before it became a major problem and the room was only down one light for six hours.

F0A Flower Room

The plants entered Week 10 of flowering (days 63-70). The majority of the plants in the room are ripe and ready to be harvested. The Pablo’s Driver and Pink Panther 99 were harvested on Friday at day 65. The Gary Payton cross will be taken down on Monday at day 68. The Micro Batch strains seem to need a little more time but a few of those strains look close to ready.

The Pablo’s Driver and Pink Panther 99 both performed well with each having their strong points. The Pablo’s Driver is prettier than the Pink Panther 99 but the Pink Panther 99 yielded much better than the Pablo’s Driver. Both have nice purple coloring, pleasant aromas, and good trichome coverage. We can’t wait to see the finished product on both of these strains.

One of the lights from this room was cleaned and moved into the Showcase Room to replace the light that malfunctioned. The lighting manufacturer will be contacted on Monday and hopefully a replacement light will be sent in a timely manner.

Moms showing their vigor as they outpaced our cloning schedule. Taking cuts and pruning back soon.

Mom and Veg Room

Mom plants are continuing to be hacked back and soon will be chopped down to do a deep clean and reset for this room. Clones of all the keeper moms have been taken and are in the process of rooting. It will be good to get this room back under control again.

Close to 200 clones were transplanted during the week for upcoming flowering rooms. The clones are transplanted into coconut fiber pots and given a mycorrhiza treatment to provide a good jump start for root health. Remember happy roots equal happy plants.

The next round of trial strains are looking nice and healthy. There are 6 strains in total in this trial run and all the seeds are regular seeds meaning male and female plants are present. This week we were able to separate the male plants from the female plants. This left us with 25 female plants which is overwhelming in number of plants but exciting for potential new awesome strains. One of the strains has a few plants showing a trait we have heard about but never seen in person before. Stay tuned to future blog posts when this trait will be described and shown in better detail. Cool and unique things are happening at Small Batch!

That’s the blog for this week. Hard to believe it’s already this time but Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to everyone out there. Small Batch products not only make great gifts and stocking stuffers but also make  every party and gathering better so stock up! Here’s to hoping you have a fun, safe, stress free Holiday week. Thank you and talk to you next week for the last Blog of 2025. Jah Guide.
